This morning it was very foggy, which is pretty rare for little old Adelaide and this was definitely the heaviest fog I have experienced thus far in my lifetime. So of course, I jumped for joy at the opportunity to capture a familiar environment and turn it into newfound pieces of art, and went out…Read More
Where the monsters live – A poem
Shadows here are plentiful and strange –
The dark has glowing eyes but no eyelids
(They never blink). Peculiar and estranged,
Here is a place where the monsters live.
Ghost of a tree – A poem
There is a tree I used to climb
With sweeping walls of green,
Enclosing me in another world
That only I could see.
Nooks and crannies in the branches
Became shelves to hold my dreams.
Each bough, a room all of its own
In a home (as I had deemed).
Hopes of a tree – A poem
We tried asking politely,
Quietly, talking amongst ourselves
Hoping you’d overhear in hushed
Rustles, a subliminal message
In your ear (save us).
A tranquil afternoon in a forest by a lake – 35mm film
I visited the Mount Lofty botanic gardens in the Adelaide Hills recently, which is a quite different experience to visiting the city botanic gardens, especially because on this particular day, it was almost empty, other than a couple of lone wanderers. Other times I have been there it’s been filled with families and other people,…Read More
Overgrown nook in nature | A photography series
This is a spot I have visited several times to take photos, but I have never seen it this green! It honestly feels like a secret fantasy world, even more so when it’s overrun with greenery, and only enhanced further by the fact that it kind of is a bit of a secret, off the beaten track sort of place. I think it’s beautiful how untouched it is.Read More
Roots | 35mm film photography
As I’ve definitely mentioned several times, I love photographing nature. But trees have been something I often shied away from, since I never really knew how to photograph them well to highlight their beauty. They always seemed far more extraordinary and amazing in real life. But… here are some pictures I recently took of trees!…Read More
Ragged and Unruly – A Photography series | The inspire diaries #1
This is a series of film photographs of ragged and unruly nature landscapes as inspired by the photographer: Dave Rothschild. I have been intrigued by his work for quite some time now and decided when I finally loaded a black and white roll of film into my camera, to give it a go!Read More
The nature of me – A poem
My words are the leaves the trees grow,
I need them so I can bloom.
To stop writing is to leave me lost
Wilted, withered in the gloom.
I listen to the trees, they help me breathe,
Clear my head when it gets crowded.
They remind me the sky won’t always be blue
And my mind too, will sometimes be clouded.
Not Always Whole – a photography project
This is a photo series of sorts, but I’m more going to simply call it a project. It’s an experiment, really, exploring a different style of photography that is slightly out of my comfort zone, creating self portraits of myself that are, as the name suggests, ‘not always whole’.Read More
