Anthology of you – A poem

Names always seemed to sound strange to say
Maybe I was just afraid of them meaning too much,
But I just want to say yours over
And over and over, I want to savour it,
I just want to feel it roll off my tongue.
And my name sounds like a song when you say it
Or should I say sing?
I could listen to you speak for an eternity
Your words filled with life and love
And light, your face ignites with the brightness
Of your smile and your eyes,
I never want to stop looking at you.
You inspire me.
You inspire me to grow.

one minute and I’ll no longer be
the me I am today
I am a timeline of people and
tomorrow
the clock sets back to zero
it will start counting again the minutes
I have to grow
even one new petal leaves me aglow
I can bloom, time knows
and only time will show
in the dark, the clock glows
mind rewinds
a mental reset to remind
me the changing clock can be a doorway

Sometimes I write words and reread them
And struggle to find who wrote them.
Maybe my poems will never be read by you
Because I didn’t write them for you to read.
You are a mystery I will never solve because I am no detective
And I will never perfectly write you
Because you are not the one I am supposed to perfectly write.
You will always be significant,
Because you are teetering on the edge,
You are a question until I stop asking
But I am deciding to let it remain unanswered.
