I recently went to the beach armed with my camera and tripod to try and capture the ocean in a different way. I took these photos using a long exposure technique, so the shutter speed was set to 1/4 of a second, which worked well in this instance for capturing the movement of a fast paced subject like waves, but still maintaining their form.

And I love love love how the photos turned out! I just think this technique really adds something magical to the photos and presents the ocean in a way the eye is unable to see it, which is something I love about the art of photography. I also think it’s so cool that some of the waves look like clouds, and that the light trails from the sunset look like fireflies or fireworks. This is truly something I enjoyed doing and want to do again, I actually took 747 photos just in a couple of hours, and I just thought I’d share a couple of favourites.
